I took lots of photos for the performers during the 2009 Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks.  This is just a small sample.  It doesn’t get much better than shooting in the beautiful Colorado weather outdoors at Red Rocks.  When the sun goes down and the lighting effects come on, the potential variety in images is endless.

Shauna and Terry came in from Kansas for their beautiful wedding in Vail.  I had a great time months prior doing their engagement photos, so I knew the wedding would be wonderful.  Here are some of the shots from their wedding at the Donovan Pavilion:

Maria stopped by the studio with her kids for her pregnancy photos.  With her background in modeling, Maria was very easy to work with.  We were going for something different than your basic look at the camera and smile.  Here’s a sample:

Jessica and Matt were engaged at Belmar Park, so guess where we did their engagement photos?

I joined Jenny and Will at South Valley Park next to Deer Creek Canyon for their engagement photo session.  The last time I had been to this park I encountered a rattle snake.  It isn’t that unusual for a park of this type, though I wouldn’t call it an everyday thing for the typical visitor either.  Fortunately, that wasn’t an issue this day.  Check out some of the photos:

Rowya and Tozz had a beautiful wedding at Columbine Country Club.  I had a blast photographing this wedding as they are a very fun couple.  Here is a small sample of the wedding photos:

Here’s a few photos from another photo session for a Miss Colorado USA competitor. This time it was Savannah that came by the studio for her photos:

The next shot is a crop of the shot above turned to black and white.  I enjoy taking one photo and making it look very different via cropping and/or color changes.

I recently took a trip to Idaho where I did a senior portrait session for Stormey.  Here are some of my favorites from our session.  We took these at Willow Bay Resort on the Pend Oreille River.

Nicolle stopped by the studio to get some shots for her entry in the Miss Colorado USA and Miss Photogenic competitions.  Here is a small sample from the session:

Tricia and Dave had an absolutely beautiful wedding in Beaver Creek, Colorado. We started with some shots at the Beaver Creek Lodge where Tricia was getting ready.  We then went on over to the golf course for some scenic photos.

Along the golf course they have some old wood shacks.  The Aspens and wood of this shack made for a nice contrast to Tricia in her beautiful dress:

Next we went off to the chapel.  I followed Tricia and the girls to get some shots as they walked:

Here is a shot from Kevin, who was my 2nd photographer for the day.  The nice thing about having a second photographer at weddings is being able to get multiple angles for key moments:

I met with Casey and Alex for their engagement photo session at Washington Park in Denver.  It was a beautiful day for pictures.  Here are some of my favorites:

Brittany and I went to Cherry Creek State Park to get her some new photos.  Here are some of my favorites.  There was a storm on the horizon that made for a nice contrast to the light we were working in.

The sky cleared a bit by the end of the session:

Here’s a series of night portraits with Meggie. We started just a bit before dusk and shot well past the point of any remaining sunlight.

Meggie’s look is perfect for that Hollywood Portrait style of photography that I love, reminiscent of celebrity portraits from the 1930’s to 1950’s.

We did get a few shots off before the sunlight was gone.

I recently met with Carol and Francis for their engagement photo session. I love it when we get the chance to do engagement photos at the actual location where a couple gets engaged. Carol and Francis were engaged in Italy, so… (I wish!!!). Francis was in town for the weekend so we had the session at the Southlands Mall, right outside the studio. Here are some shots from the session:

Erin and Taylor had a beautiful wedding at The Grange in Castle Rock, Colorado. Here are some of my favorite photos from their day.

We started off with some formals at the house:

The photo above is a very traditional and formal shot. Normally I’m drawn to very unique and creative images, but in this case I love the look of this image with Erin framed by the archway. And now a couple shots from the wedding. I love the smiles and absolute happiness in this one:

And perhaps my favorite of all is getting the emotion always evident right after the ceremony.

Shana and Terry were in town for the weekend and we took advantage of the time to do their engagement photos in Denver. They will be getting married in the near future in Vail at the Donovan Pavilion. Here are some of my favorite photos from the session:

I originally shot the above photo as a wide-angle shot featuring the entire bridge with Shauna and Terry in the center of it (for symbolic purposes), and lots of sky and other surroundings in the photo. For this image, I simply cropped it to give a different feel and mood. I love working with different compositions as they provide entirely different moods, meanings, and symbolism.

It would be a shame to walk past a public art piece like this one and not use it in a photo – so we used it.
